Civil War Experience: Hood’s Tennessee Campaign from Spring Hill to Nashville Full-Day Tour

7-8 Hour Tour

$725.00

Description

Overview of your tour:

An exciting Civil War journey from where the Tennessee battles began between Schofield and Hood’s armies, and ended facing Hood’s former West Point instructor, Gen. George Thomas, with all the bloody, horrific clashes in between, along with lots of off-the-beaten-path side stories and locations and information regarding philandering, jealousies, murder, mistakes, and mysteries, as well as blatant acts of unbelievable courage and sacrifice. Includes visits to the very hills and earthworks still visible and accessible. Although this is an all day tour, it is actually an overview, engaging many different stops at a swift pace. This is not a slow, tedious nodding-off in the sun tour. You will not be bored. It does not include any inside the home tours, everything is from the outside; your guide will advise as to what inside tours you should come back and take if so desired. We will be driving by sites or walking through battlefields, with ample opportunities for stunning photos.

Your Nashville tour itinerary

I will pick you up at 9am and I will bring you back to your car or hotel after the tour. We will walk battlefields, farms, plantations, a cemetery, remains of forts, see monuments, and primarily go right along the same path that Hood and Schofield marched as they battled all the way to Nashville. We will make a side trip to the site of a battle that occurred a year before, in 1863, and learn some interesting things about the characters involved in that skirmish. We’ll stop for lunch (not included with tour) when ready, typically in Franklin, I know the spots! Then we’ll continue toward Nashville, ending at Fort Negley. Pace can vary with each tourist but the target is to be done no later than 5pm, but typically we’re back by 4pm.
